No one should have to worry about where their next meal will come from. Our food shelf is here to provide nutritious groceries in a welcoming, respectful, and caring environment for anyone in need.
Groceries
Our food shelf provides a wide variety of groceries to individuals and families in need throughout our community. Visitors can choose from available canned goods, frozen foods, meat, pantry staples, bread, dairy products, fresh produce, personal hygiene items, and pet food.
Each November, we also provide Thanksgiving meal boxes complete with a turkey and all the traditional holiday fixings to help families celebrate together.
Where Our Food Comes From
The success of our food shelf depends on the generosity of many individuals, businesses, organizations, and community partners. Food and supplies come from:
- Community members who donate garden produce, canned goods, and other pantry staples.
- Local grocery stores, restaurants, schools, and farms that share surplus food.
- Community organizations that hold food drives to support KCS.
- Monthly USDA food distributions.
- The Vermont Food Bank, our largest supplier, which delivers monthly truckloads of meat, produce, and other essential groceries.
- Salvation Farms' gleaning program, which provides fresh produce from Vermont farms.
- Items purchased from local stores, carefully selected to make the most of every donated dollar.
Together, these partnerships help ensure that our shelves remain stocked with nutritious food for our neighbors in need.
